The beginnings of Indoor Play Concept are the story of a young Polish man who lacked confidence and left for the Netherlands in 2007 in search of work. At the time, indoor playgrounds in Poland were only just emerging, and this was not yet a well known direction for development. Back then, he joined a Dutch company that manufactured and installed them. That is where he gained his first experience and discovered his passion for installation: the moment when an empty building turns into a place full of colour and emotion. The “wow” effect and people’s smiles after the job was finished became his greatest motivation.
When the 2008 economic crisis hit, many companies, including the one he worked for, reduced the number of projects. Despite the difficult situation, he continued working as a subcontractor for a Polish company delivering projects in Belgium. Even then, as an 18 year old installation crew leader, he managed 15 person teams and ran projects worth hundreds of thousands of euros. This experience showed him that people management, logistics, creative thinking and problem solving were his natural environment. After two years of intensive work abroad, he decided to return to Poland: he wanted to live closer to his family, in his own country. Soon, however, he received an offer to come back, this time not as an employee but as an independent entrepreneur who would take over all installation and service contracts in the Benelux region from a Belgian company. This is how his path as an entrepreneur began, delivering increasingly larger projects for leading clients in the industry.
While running his own business, he heard the words many times: “Don’t come with a problem, come with a proposed solution.”
This principle, although often challenging, taught him what responsibility truly is and what it means to run a company. He was always passionate about technology: design software, graphics, machine operation and Excel. He did not like working with paper plans; he worked directly from a laptop, which helped shorten project time, minimise errors and respond to changes faster. This approach led him to AutoCAD and other design tools, which over time became an integral part of his work.By 2018, the business had grown to 20 installation and production employees and four office staff in Poland. When the production manager at the company he cooperated with left, he took over that role. He was responsible for refining projects, supervising compliance with certification body guidelines and preparing installation documentation. This allowed him to thoroughly learn inspection processes and understand how safety inspectors from major organisations such as TÜV think.
In 2020, when the world came to a halt due to the COVID 19 pandemic, for some it was a crisis, and for others an opportunity. With funds and time available, he focused on personal development. He completed all online courses available at the time, run by leading personal and business coaches in Poland, who taught him what ROI is, how to build an effective business plan and how to manage and invest wisely to avoid losses. Over time, this knowledge also became crucial in day to day work with clients: it helped better understand their goals, plan investments more sensibly and take a broader view than just the project itself.
In 2023, recalling his beginnings in 2007 when he said, “I’m leaving for just three months to earn some extra money,” he decided to return to Poland permanently. Together with part of his team, he began a new chapter: building the Indoor Play Concept brand, specialising in the design and delivery of modern Soft Play spaces.
To date, he has taken part in projects for independent commercial parks and major international developments such as Plopsaland De Panne and Comic Station in Belgium, as well as installations in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, plus many other large scale investments.
“We installed projects all across Europe, from Turkey to Norway, from small cafés to huge structures whose installation took as long as two months of work with a 15 person team. When asked, ‘How many indoor playgrounds have you installed?’ I always answer: I can’t count them… but I know there were far too many to remember them all.”
